WORLDS IN PLAY

a five-day gathering of play practitioners—game and theatre artists—exploring new forms of agency in storytelling and experience

WORLDS IN PLAY is a playful “collective studio visit,” where practitioners invite attendees into explorations of agency through workshops, playtests, games, demos, performances, presentations, and other bespoke engagement forms. Practitioners, researchers, and producers/presenters all welcome.

An expansive spectrum of participatory practices are represented in the programming, including and beyond: Alternate Reality Games (ARGs), immersive theatre, Live Action Role Playing Games (larps), social practice, performance art, XR, and Tabletop Role Playing Games.

Objectives include incubating adventurous artistic projects at various stages of life cycles, bolstering development of transdisciplinary fields around play, and prototyping innovative and sustainable models for producing participatory work.
